Yes, Brasil is spelled with “s” for us… advantages of speaking Portuguese, I suppose…
We left the US end of November 2005 – headed to São Paulo to spend some time with the part of the family I had not seen in almost 10 years and my son had never met… it was a great family reunion.
We arrived December 04 - and my aunt cold not wait until she raided all of our 6 suitcases.

Lucky me, I had gifts for everyone – but still took them good 3 hours to “organize” me. It is amazing how even at 40, you are never an adult to the ones who saw you young…
We had a broad audience as well – and my beautiful and amazing sister-in-law and Milucha, her dog – still a favorite of my sons…

All said and done, we packed and headed to Guarujá Beach where both my mother and my aunt have apartments virtually at the water – and where I spent many of my vacations as a teen.

The place is exactly like I remembered – and so are the people… most of my friends are now either married or already divorced, with only a couple of exceptions – and most also have kids.

My son was quick to adopt the Brazilian laid-back way – we had long walks by the beach and a great time in the water, which he absolutely loves !

It was also very exciting to me to have my grandmother and my son meet and enjoy each other’s company. How many families, nowadays have the luxury to have 4 generations under one roof at the same time ?

Here’s Grandma with one grand-daughter two of her four great-grandchildren. She was then 87 years old and is still going strong 3 yeas later…

The apartments are gorgeous…

and the views of the pools…

and the sea are breath-taking…

Tia Lê and Guilherme (my younger brother’s son)…

seemed stuck to each other all the time – Tia Lê’s daughters, Luciana and Carolina are in their mid-20s, so I suppose she is insinuating she would like some grandchildren right around now !

Pituca – my older brother’’s dog – was also another favorite… she is a very cute white poodle, who loves to run around and play…

In the human realm, these couples have been friends of the family for decades, and have continues their tradition of playing cards with each other for the same amount of time…

… as new friendships also formed, within the next generation…
